CCC #9

  I'm thrilled I stayed up late to finish my entry for CeeCee's Color Challenge #9.  This week she chose one of my all-time favorite color combinations.  How could I not play along?  Entrants were to combine certainly celery, old olive, very vanilla, taken with teal and cool caribbean.  (I still wish SU would bring back cool caribbean!)

I was inspired by the prints in the sample pieces and so I pulled out my new Papertrey Guidelines stamp set to create my own patterned paper.  I stamped the design onto the cream cardstock using the other four challenge colors.  Then I matted it to taken with teal stock that was layered on top of certainly celery cardstock.  The base itself is cool caribbean and after stitching the cream layer I wrapped it in SU old olive grosgrain ribbon.  A Bazzil blossom was decorated with some circles punched from cardstock and the sentiment is from Papertrey's Mixed Messages set. To balance the thickness of the ribbon I adhered the blossom using foam dimensionals.

CeeCee's Color Challenge #7

I am so happy I managed to create an entry for CeeCee's latest color challenge.  Check out her blog - she does amazing things.  Amazing.  This challenge was to use the colors very vanilla, sahara sand, true thyme, so saffron and really rust to make a father's day card.  It ended up being a lot easier than I thought it would be!  The base of the card is sahara sand and the tree top and sentiment were stamped in true thyme while the trunk was inked with sahara sand.  The slider tag is actually a Cuttlebug square slider tag that I cut down to be a rectangle.  And the true thyme layer?  It's actually vanilla cardstock that I 'mashed' repeatedly with my true thyme inkpad, hence the textured pattern.  I know I have some true thyme stock left somewhere but I just can't find it!  I decided to use a combination of stitching, edge distressing and paper piercing for accents...I was going for 'manly'.
