In case you hadn't noticed, I'm pretty into Valentine's cards right now. This one came about as part of my reduce, reuse, recycle attitude (newly adopted in my craft room!). The chipboard heart negative was left over from using my Sidekick and Sizzlits to cut out the heart shape for this card. I've been looking at the new Stampin' Up catalog and coveting the new bead assortments. Suddenly it hit me - I still have beads left from the discontinued color family assortments! One thing led to another and I pulled out my jar of Rich Regals beads. After I tied on the scrap of True Thyme ribbon I secured the chipboard cutout to the burgundy cardstock using glue dots (unknown origin for the burgundy stock). I filled in the heart shape with Crystal Effects and then began sprinkling the beads. I found that because of the size of some of the longer bugle beads I had to gently tap things into place. After letting the crystal effects dry for a bit I sponged the edges of the burgundy cardstock with white craft ink. I used my new black Spica glitter pen to write the xoxo sentiment and then adhered the burgundy layer to a plain kraft cardstock base.
My guilty conscience is getting the best of me. I have to confess that I still bought the red beads from the new SU catalog. But at least now I'll have more room to store them and a new way to use them!
Until next time...M
