Beate's Be Inspired Challenge #19

Hi everyone!  Not too much going on around here tonight.  But Beate'sback to blogging and issued a new BIC so I decided I had to play along.  My friend Liz is not feeling well right now so I wanted to make this card for her.  Hey Liz - hope you like it!  I'll either drop of off or mail it to you tomorrow.  (See, we've been friends since kindergarten so I can pull a stunt like this!) 

I chose a base of real rust and opted for texture.  I stitched the 'quick and dirty' border with my Sew Mini and then distressed the edges.  The flowers were created by using my new Marvy flower punches!  Yes, I couldn't resist.  I ordered them just as soon as Papertrey put them up on their site.  I inked the edges of the white circles with some antique linen distress ink and added the sentiment from Mixed Messages with dark chocolate ink.  The stems and leaves are from Papertrey's Floral Frenzy set and the chocolate twill comes from Ellen Hutson's store.

Here's a closeup side view to show you how I pulled up each petal on the flowers just a little bit.  It really makes a difference, but I don't know how it would fare in the mail.  Hmmm...  Anyway, I used some twine thread to accent the button.  Heaven forbid I leave a naked button out there!  I am tired of threading things through button holes so just tied the knot and stuck it on with a small glue dot.

Beate's Be Inspired Challenge #18

I want to thank everyone who has been visiting me here and especially thank those who have left such lovely comments.  This card was created today with you in mind.  You really brighten my days.

On to the card itself...Beate has provided this photo for inspiration.  I chose a base of aqua mist with a layer of ruby red and very vanilla on top.  The focal image was created by stamping three images of the new Lockhart cupcake stamp.   I bought it from Ellen because it was just too cute to resist.  I colored it with my SU markers using many of the Copic 'techniques' we've been hearing about like layering colors and shading, then I outlined it with a W1 warm gray Copic marker.  It's hard to see from my photo, but I added a sparkly layer on each flower with my clear Spica glitter pen.  I also added a bit of textured background on the bottom of the card with SU's Oh So Lovely set and some Versamark ink.  Seriously - I'd forgotten what it was like to make a card without designer paper!!!  The sentiment is from my favorite Papertrey set, Piece of Cake.  Thanks for stopping by!

Be Inspired Challenge #17

 

Here's my take on Beate's newest Be Inspired Challenge.  I don't often do black and white but as soon as I saw Beate's inspiration piece I remembered this patterned DCWV paper I've had stashed away.  It also has gray in it and I think that's why I couldn't manage to get a decent photo of it.  Guess it would help to read the instructions that came with the camera!  The black cardstock was embossed using the swiss dot Cuttlebug folder, the ribbon is from May Arts and the sentiment comes from Papertrey's Little Lady set.  Thanks for visiting!
