Kristina's Color Challenge #44

 Hi there!  How are you doing?  I'm squeaking through with a last-minute entry for Kristina's latest color challenge.  Pinks and browns are always a winning combination so how could I resist? 

I mixed together some Basic Grey and Papertrey papers and used May Arts chocolate leaf ribbon for the stems.  And the crocheted blossoms are truly faves of mine!  Look familiar?  My friend Jewels made them and sent them to me.  How's that for happiness in an envelope!?!!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

  Hi!  It's time for another of Kristina's color challenges.  I think that if I hurry this post along I just might be able to submit before the deadline.  The inspiration piece features a floral design but I've spent so much time lately with those darn punched out purple flowers that I could only muster up some leaves tonight!  To shake things up a bit I opted to do some stamping off for different intensities of color.  Daring, aren't I?!?  Living right on the edge as usual!!!

 Hi there!  Whoo this is going to be a squeaker!  I have only a couple of minutes to post this and link it up before the deadline.  Kristina's latest challenge is to use the colors bravo burgundy, regal rose, rose red, soft sky and whisper white.  (The inspiration piece is below.)  I went with the obvious - a floral design - and pulled out my Floral Frenzy set.  Hope you like it...I'm ok with it.  Sometimes we just have to let some things go and roll with the punches, right?  Thanks so much for stopping by - have a great Friday!

Kristina's Color Inspiration #19

Hi everyone!  Kristina has issued her newest color inspiration challenge and for the first time in a long time I actually feel comfortable with the colors.  Whoo hoo!  You can double-click on her graphic to the left to see a larger version of the inspiration piece.  The colors to use this time are basic black, basic gray, whisper white and - my favorite - add a color of your choice.

My newest Papertrey order arrived yesterday afternoon so of course I just had to use Heather Nichol's Rustic Branches set.  I began by using the largest of the small rectangle Nestabilities to cut and emboss the white stock.  I stamped the wreath and sentiment in basic black and colored in the leaves with a SU basic gray marker.  The berries were stamped with Papertrey's newest color, pure poppy.  And check out the twill ribbon!  I am going to be in love with this color for quite some time!  To balance the design I added two score lines at the bottom of the basic black layer.  Thanks for stopping by!

Kristina's Color Challenge #18

Hi there!  Kristina's back with another color challenge and this time it's to use basic black, pumpkin pie, rose red and either summer sun or green galore.  I decided to try to use some 'older' supplies I've had stashed away.  Out came the velvet blossoms by Maya Road and the SU buttons!

I started with a base of pumpkin pie and layered on some basic black and a piece of rose red that I'd run through with the swiss dots Cuttlebug embossing folder.  I tied the ribbon through the buttons, adhered everything with glue dots, and added the sentiment from Papertrey's new set Floral Frenzy.  Done!  Thanks for stopping by!

Kristina's Color Challenge #16

Hello!  Kristina's thrown down another color challenge - this time we're to use certainly celery, pumpkin pie, soft sky and very vanilla.  She picked the cutest little felt booties from Martha for inspiration.

So I started with a base of Papertrey's vintage cream.  I used my Fiskars threading water punch to trim the certainly celery stock.  After that I used the tone-on-tone technique and the texture stamp from SU's Oh So Lovely set to give the scallops a little dimension.  The designer paper is from SU and I finally used my Martha Stewart butterfly punch!  I stamped the sentiment twice; once on the designer paper and another time on pumpkin pie cardstock.  I cut out the blossom and adhered it to the card with a little dab of glue.  I was still in the bling-y mood, so I colored the circles of the sentiment with my Sakura stardust glitter pen and added some Swarovski crystals to the blossom and the butterfly.  I wrapped the bottom in pumpkin pie grosgrain and called it a day.  Thanks for stopping by!

Kristina's Color Challenge #15

Kristina issued a new challenge!  This week the colors to use are chocolate chip, close to cocoa, really rust, certainly celery and whisper white.  I was inspired by the oval-ish trim on the fabric so I pulled out my oval punches and went to work!

I came up with the design while driving back from a birthday luncheon today (I'll post the story later tonight).  As you can see it's pretty basic!  I layered some spring moss cardstock on top of a white base and wrapped it in May Arts ribbon.  I punched two ovals each from chocolate chip, really rust and close to cocoa cardstock and then lined the bottom one with a scrap of white.  My Quickie glue pen was so handy for attaching these - if you don't already have a glue pen I recommend it highly!  To finish it off I added the rub on sentiment from SU's Love and Happiness set.  Done!  Thanks for stopping by.

Kristina's Color Challenge #14

Hi everyone!  It's time for another of Kristina's color challenges.  This was quite a stretch for me; the instructions were to create a high contrast, bold creation using the colors basic black, basic gray, whisper white, ruby red and river rock.  And use a bold or sassy phrase.  I know that when you think "high contrast, bold creation" and "bold and sassy" my work immediately comes to mind...Not!  But you know what?  It was still fun.  And I still used my sewing machine.  So there!

Here it is in all its glory.  The base is basic black, the main layer is river rock, and I stitched on a scrap from SU's Ginger Blossoms designer paper.  The stamp set used was SU's So Very (I think it's the only bold stamp set I have!!!).  The focal piece was stamped in basic black while the background of 'loved' was created using river rock ink.  A few ribbon scraps finished the design.  Thanks for visiting!

Kristina's Color Challenge #13

Hi everyone!  Thanks for stopping by.  I'm posting early today!  Kristina's latest color challenge was inspired by the Rosewater Bedding collection by Tracy Porter.  The instructions were to make something using the colors in the photo:  purely pomegranate, regal rose, river rock, wild wasabi and whisper white.  I took my cue from the green pillow with the butterfly on it and did this:

I started with a base of river rock cardstock because I wanted the butterflies themselves to really stand out as bursts of color.  I took a separate piece of river rock and ran it through my Big Kick with the swiss dots Cuttlebug embossing folder and then layered it on the bottom.  I stamped the butterfly image from SU's Priceless set onto some Papertrey select white and distressed the top edge with my SU distressing tool.  I secured that to the base, stamped the sentiment in basic black ink and then wrapped the whole thing with some river rock stitched ribbon.  Done!
