Papertrey Blog Hop: Buttons

Hi there!  It's Papertrey's monthly blog hop and this time the challenge is to use buttons.  Perfect timing!  The girls who work in the school office with me have a little contest going on right now about who can wear their ID badge in the 'coolest' way.  I decided to use buttons, twill and linen thread to create the best ID badge lanyard in the building.  I even sewed a buttonhole by hand!

Papertrey Blog Hop - Holiday Gift Tags

Hi there!  Blog hop time again:)  This month Nichole has challenged participants to create quick and easy tags to keep on hand for last minute holiday gifts.  Now that's a practical idea!  I had fun with this one...I made the tags big (3"x5") and I'll secure them to the tops of freshly baked loaves of banana bread that I'll hand deliver.  All the writing is already finished!

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop - Holiday Place Cards

Hi there!  It's time for Papertrey's monthly blog hop and this time Nichole has challenged participants to share a holiday project.  Hmmm...what to do, right?  How about some place cards?!  I used Heather Nichols' new set, Holiday Tree, and channeled my inner Pinefeather.  I also managed to use up one of my oldest PTI supplies - some Everyday Blessings 6x6 paper.

After stamping on the patterned paper with some Memento brown ink and then the new pigment formula of Spring Moss, I cut out and pieced the tree tops onto my kraft bases.  Some vellum cardstock and fresh snow ink formed the snowdrifts (so easy) and then I threw on the ribbon and string.

Papertrey's July Blog Hop

Hi there!  It's blog hop time:)  This month Nichole  challenged participants to integrate text into a project.  Hmmm...text.  While I do have actual 'text' background stamps, I decided to create a text border using multiple sentiment stamps.  Easy peasy! 

I used two of the sentiments from Heart Prints Sentiments to make the text border, then used sentiments from Mixed Messages, Mega Mixed Messages and Heartfelt Basics (masked 'laughter' to get laugh) to accent the hearts.  The new Polka Dots Basics II set was used with Versamark to add the background and then I threw on buttons before I could stop myself.  Live, Love, Laugh...what could be more fun?  Thanks so much for stopping by!  I can't wait to go hopping to see what everyone else created:)

Papertrey Blog Hop Summer Style

Hi there!  It's Papertrey blog hop time again and this month the challenge is to be inspired by summer.  Whatever it is that says 'summer' to you:)  So...you know me.  I went diving into my baseball photos.  Baseball...as American as apple pie...bingo!

 

 

 

I used some of the new bitty block paper and dug out some oldies - My Punny Valentine and Limitless Labels.  And the sentiment?  That's Mailbox Greetings:)

Papertrey Blog Hop

  Can you believe it's time already for the next Papertrey blog hop?!  Tonight the challenge is to create a birthday card.  So here's what I made: 

I used some of the new black and white patterned papers and stamped on it with raspberry fizz ink.  (I used the medium dot from Polka Dot Basics.)  Then I colored the centers of each blossom with a silver glitter pen, wrapped it in ribbon and mounted it on some true black cardstock I'd trimmed with a scalloped punch.  The sentiment, bow and button round out the cast of characters.

Papertrey Blog Hop: Repurpose, Reuse & Recycle

  Hello again!  It's time for Papertrey's December blog hop and this month Nichole issued a challenge to reuse holiday trimmings to create something non-holiday related.  I chose this gorgeous ribbon and tag that was on the gift my mom gave me for Christmas.  My friends are probably laughing their socks off right now because I voluntarily chose to use purple tonight.  Purple is usually my kryptonite!!

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop

   

Hi everyone!  It's time again for Papertrey Ink's monthly blog hop.  This month Nichole has challenged everyone to create their own floral embellishment.  I opted to use fabric, quilt batting and a large Sizzix daisy die.

The Sizzix die will cut two different sizes of daisies, so I cut three layers in total:  two large daisies and one small.  I hand-stitched them together and lightly gathered them so that it created some dimension.  A button and linen thread finish off the blossom itself. 

 

 

Check out the polka dots!  I used the new vintage cream ink.  It is awesome.  Some ripe avocado ribbon and a sentiment from Shapes by Design round out the cast of characters.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Papertrey's October Blog Hop: Polka Dot Parade

  It's blog hop time again!  This month's challenge is to use polka dots, whether it be patterned paper, altered items, stamps...you name it.  I've been making a bunch of framed, polka dotted gifts lately, so I decided to use the same design and make a framed holiday piece for tonight.

 

The overall size of the piece is 6" x 8" and I started with the polka dot paper from Papertrey's Holiday Vintage Prints collection.  I stitched on the 4" x 6" spring moss layer, used the swiss dot Cuttlebug embossing folder on the 5.5" x 3.5" pure poppy piece and then distressed the edges.  I sanded the edges of the white chipboard letters and sponged them with ripe avocado ink to soften them up a bit (you can see this a little better in the close up photo below).

 

I wrapped the bottom with ripe avocado ribbon and then added a couple of dollar store buttons and a few holly leaves.  I didn't have a die cut for the holly leaves (or should I say I couldn't find one in my messy craft room?  ...blushing...) so I freehand cut them from spring moss stock and ran the edges along my ripe avocado inkpad.  Then I ran a dotted cutter up the center of each leaf to add some definition.  Done!  Thanks so much for stopping by.

Papertrey's September Blog Hop

  Hi everyone!  I decided to make some gift tags for this month's blog hop challenge.  I can't seem to put my new Rustic Snowflakes set down, so it was no surprise that I incorporated it somehow! 

 

I used kraft stock and an old tag die for the tag itself.  Next I rubbed the edges with my New Canvas Palette ink pad and then stamped the snowflakes in gold.  The larger snowflake is from Rustic Snowflakes, the smaller one is from Holiday Treats, and I stamped the 'to/from' from Boxes, Bags and Tags in basic black ink.  Thanks for stopping by!  I can't wait to see what everyone else made.

Papertrey's August Blog Hop

Hi there!  It's time again for Papertrey's blog hop.  This month the challenge is to alter a CD case into something other than it's original purpose.  I decided to create a piece of holiday home decor using my newest favorite set, Rustic Branches.

I began with a base of kraft cardstock cut to fit the case (5.5" x 4.75").  To give the edges some interest I swiped them first with antique linen distress ink and then with Palette new canvas ink.  I've been watching a lot of kitchen renovation tv shows lately and they inspired me to use the buttons to create a tiled effect.  It's like the papercrafting version of a tiled backsplash!  Linen thread was used to dress the buttons and glue dots were used to adhere them to the kraft stock.  The focal piece is constructed of select white and pure poppy cardstocks that were cut and embossed with classic square Nestabilities.  The poppy layer was also lightly edged with new canvas ink.  The image was created using sahara sand, dark chocolate and pure

poppy inks, and the entire piece was attached using foam dimensional tape.  To finish it off I looped some hemp twine around the top.  Thanks for stopping by!

Papertrey's July Blog Hop

Hi everyone!  It's that time again...and this month the challenge issued by Papertrey for the blog hop is to incorporate vellum.  I have started thinking about Christmas/holiday cards and so I thought this might be the perfect time to actually do something! 

I started with a base of aqua mist and tied on some dark chocolate satin ribbon.  I used Papertrey's Snowflake Serenade set for the smaller snowflakes (stamped with Versamark) and used a QuicKutz die I had to create the vellum snowflakes.  After I cut enough segments for the large snowflake I attached it to the card with a sugar coated brad.  Then I traced over each portion of the snowflake with a clear Copic Spica glitter pen.  I learned that this will encourage the vellum to curl (argh!) so I used a glue pen to adhere the larger portions to the cardstock.  I left the small ones flying free on purpose to (hopefully) give the idea of movement.  To finish it off I stamped the sentiment in Papertrey's new dark chocolate ink.  Done! Thanks for stopping by!
